Bar Lara:
Bar Lara is another of the original tapas bars and restaurantes in Plaza San Miguel Bajo.
Bar Lara is possibly one of my favourite restaurants. The best bars in San Miguel Bajo are Bar Lara, Yunque and the bar behind the statue.
It is very simple to get to San Miguel Bajo. There is a mini-bus which through the square every 15 minutes and you can catch it from Plaza Nueva. Click for info

Whether you like it or not there is always a large amount of street musicians willing to entertain you while you are eating.
Some of them are very good and some of them are awful. After performing for 10 minutes or so they will come round with a hat.
It is a good idea to have a pocket full of centimes and some€ in another pocket for the good ones. In this way it is possible to encourage the good ones and dissuade the bad ones.

Lovely location in a beautiful plaza. Despite all but one of the tables being full we were served quickly with our drinks. The tapas were good but as we were hungry we ordered some "raciones" which are portions or plates of food. We went there in the evening but it is also open at midday. They serve typical Spanish food. We had boquerones (fried whitebait), patatas a lo pobre (fried potatoes with green peppers) tortilla de patatas (Spanish potato omelette), Lomo con ajo (pork in a garlic sauce) All were delicious.

We caught the C2 minibus from Plaza Nueva to Mirador de San Nicolas (with amazing views of the Alhambra) After a short stroll we found the San Miguel Bajo Square and went to Bar Lara. We have a very tasty meal in a pleasant setting. The C2 bus goes through the square every 15 minutes or so. We could have got back on the bus to go back to Plaza Nueva but we chose to wander around the Albayzin and eventually wended our way back to Plaza Nueva on foot.
