AQUAOLA WATER PARK
There is a water park just outside Granada and is open from June until September. The easiest way to get there is by bus, car or taxi.
It has 10 attractions including the Pirate Galleon, the Tornedo Slide, the Black Pipe and the Cyclone.
It also has a self-service restaurant, bar, picnic area, shop (selling swimming costumes, towels, arm bands, suncream, etc.), cloakroom, changing rooms with showers and toilets, and a large car park.
Aquaola is a water park with various swimming pools, water slides, a wave machine and a zero-gravity simulator "eurobungy".
There are several water slides of different speeds: some fast and others slower. Some are straight and some steep. Others have lots of curves, bumps and tunnels.
There is a shop selling swimming costumes, bikinis, suntan lotion, towels, childrens armbands and floats.
In the Black Pipe slide you shoot down floating on a rubber ring for two people. In here you are completely in the dark.
In the Baths of Venus there is a less active atmosphere more suited to younger children. In the warm water there are machines making bubbles.
For the smaller members of the family there is pirate galleon in Balu's Pool.
There is a pool with a wave machine that has a variety of six different types of waves.
The rapids of the River Bravo flow into Lake Iguazú where you can try the Tornado slide (see below).
You have the use of changing rooms, facilities for storing your belongings, showers and toilets. There is a medical centre with fully qualified staff on hand to help you.
There is a system of elastic ropes called Eurobungy. You can turn somersaults and other gymnastic stunts. They say it's like experiencing zero-gravity.
As well as a self-service cafeteria, there are picnic areas and kioskos selling chilled drinks and ice creams.
The self-service restaurant offers a daily set menu (starter, main course, dessert, bread) and a children's menu. There is also a dish-of-the-day main course option.
The waterpark is just outside Granada on the way to Cenes de Vega to the east of the city.
By car: Follow the signs to Sierra Nevada until you reach the junction on the map opposite. Then follow signs for Cenes de la Vega. There is free parking for more than 350 cars. There is also a secure covered car park which is not free.
By bus: From the centre of Granada you can catch a SN1 city bus to Cenes de la Vega. There is then a free minibus service every 15 minutes between Plaza de Villacantoria and Aquaola.
By taxi: A taxi from the centre of Granada should cost about 10€.
